Masters of Music Technology Cumulative GPA: 3.976

Spencer was accepted into NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development Graduate Program on the second day of the global shutdown due to COVID in March, 2020. Understanding the pandemic’s impact on education, Spencer persevered, completing his first year of graduate courses virtually until NYU resumed classes in person during his second year. Receiving positive feedback from professors and support from his thesis advisor and dean of Music Technology, Spencer completed his masters thesis and graduated in 2022.

Spencer hopes to continue bridging the gap between technology and education through music, channeling his interdisciplinary training from WCUPA’s Honors College at its core.

In 2021, Spencer collaborated with the West Chester University Foundation in celebrating West Chester University of PA’s sesquicentennial anniversary. Celebrating West Chester’s 150 years, he was tasked in composing and producing the music in their WCU 150 Forward Campaign video. Inspired by WCU’s Alma Mater, Spencer was excited to write a piece of music featuring Under A Rest A Cappella and the pregame show music of the West Chester University Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band.

West Chester University Honors College

To Be Honorable Is To Serve

Each year, the Honors College accepts a 40 person cohort from the entering first year population to live together and complete a 3 year curriculum which replace their gen-eds.

This curriculum focuses on cultivating leadership and service through interdisciplinary study. With strong ties to international study, such as research service trips to South Africa and collaboration with the Nobel Peace Prize in Norway, Honors aims to build a sense of community both internally and externally.

Spencer dedicated a large amount of time to Honors, from being an administrative assistant to the department and a teacher’s assistant (TA) for multiple classes (e.g. Community and Change), to co-running the annual Summer Honors Symposium Retreat and the 4th semester students’ Crossroads Retreat
